My guess for these is that these lists are ranked by projected WAR for 2025 and not how good they were in 2024, how good theyre projected to be in 2025. However, if true, this also exposes the flaws in War and projected stats
How in the hell did we have 2 triple crown winners, and one of the best rookie pitchers in modern history, and Wheeler ends up above all 3 of them? That’s complete nonsense.

Never understand what these lists actually mean. Cole won a Cy young and was number one last year and 8 this year because of an injury? If we’re talking about the most recent performances I’m pretty sure he threw more innings than anyone in the postseason with a 2.17 ERA. Maybe not number one but 8? I’ll still take that guy over most lol
I’m assuming they made this list in terms of overall performance and not accolades. Sale and Skubal were lights out after seasons full of injuries so I think that’s what they’re considering.

Wasn’t expecting Wheeler to get the respect he deserves here, however I don’t know if we can expect a better season from him this year than last year. Hopefully, I’m wrong.
Just off the top of my head I can think of 15 or 20 MLB pitchers I’d rather have than Framber Valdez & Logan Webb… not saying they are bad but def not top 10
