Officiating on the Big Screen – Umpire Analysis of "Major League"
In this episode of Officiating on the Big Screen, tmac analyzes the movie titled Major League, whose promising start ultimately culminates with what could possibly be deemed the worst home plate umpire of all time and an epidemic of over-selling safe calls. https://www.closecallsports.com/2021/02/officiating-on-big-screen-major-league.html
one of the most entertaining videos on this channel (perhaps, because its a change of pace and the general content is so great – this isnt a knock) and im surprised it didnt get a bunch of views! really hope to see something like this again, but there’s not a ton of movies with this many scenes to analyze. I’ve certainly tried finding them!
Can’t wait for the freeze ball in ML 3…
I wonder what the best portrayal of umpires in a movie/tv show has been?
No mention of Joe West’s appearance?
Tim,, I can’t wait until you do the review or Bull Durham especially the scene when Crash and the Plate Umpire are going at it! On a serious note, how can I get in touch with you as I could use some advice and help? Thanks and have a great day tomorrow!
