  1. These players are over played poor rotations that’s simple reason why he has a major injuries recur injuries. Why people don’t see that or comment about it the truth just no trust in a bench at all over Player cause injuries and destroy careers

  2. I would like to see Mitch as many but with less than 20 games give or take, what kind of impact will he have. I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t play this season.

  3. Before the trade deadline, I was suggesting that they go after players because I saw holes or issues. They believed everything was fine, for some reason. I mentioned DeAndre Hunter, but now Cleveland has him. Remember when Boston got Jrue Holiday and Porzingis and no one was worried? They won the championship.

But anyway, the Knick could have still gone after: Nic Claxton, Kyle Kuzma, Miles Bridges, DeAndre Ayton, Wendell Carter, Jakob Poeltl, Max Strus (if possible), Keldon Johnson, Jaden Ivey, Jalen Green, Malik Beasley, Cameron Johnson.

Why is Mitchell Robinson gone for basically the season? He’s injured year after year. I think he’s very good defensively, but I’m getting Robert Williams III vibes. The Knicks need to go out and get a reliable center who can defend, rebound and score. They could also use the guy that they have as well: Ariel Hukporti.

  4. The Knicks need to get bigger. Josh Hart is a 2 and should be a spark off the bench. Coach isn’t truly interested in player development. 8 to 9 man rotation won’t cut it. Fluke injuries are due to overuse. Coach must trust the bench and allow players to grow.

  5. So hart and Mitchell both non shooters coming back to replace other non shooters in the lineup is the solution all Knicks issues. Lmaooo ok I see the vision now.

  6. Asap needs to mean when they are sufficiently rested and healthy . if that means another month for Hqrt , so be it.

  7. If Josh is having issues with his knee at this point to where he can not practice, I do NOT want to see him on the floor against the Celtics on Sunday after missing so many games. It’s not worth it at this point. We are going to get thrashed anyway, mark my words! We don’t have the TYPE of personal to compete with these types of teams.

  8. The layoff pushed Mitchell’s return back he had to sit until coaches and players come back now he can get back into the swing of things he’ll be back by the west coast trip

  9. I like Josh Hart. However the issue wasn’t his absence. Thibs needs to stop only pushing the team to launch 3 pointers. Rather he should be pushing the players to: play defense (of course), move well without the ball, score in the mid-range, do more ally oops, do more pick n’ rolls, set screens which would make it easier for guys to score before the opposing team’s defenders get to them, cut to the rim for passes that lead to easy baskets on the run, speed up the pace, get out in transition, etc.

And that’s not saying that Josh Hart isn’t needed. However the Knicks shouldn’t get blown out when they have 2 all stars (Jalen Brunson and KAT), Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby (superstar on defense) and good players on the bench. They’re not going against Magic Johnson, Micheal Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Tim Duncan’s Spurs, etc. Cleveland has 2 all star level players. If height is an issue, why didn’t Thibs play Ariel Hukporti?

If he started Ariel Hukporti, then KAT would get more open shots at the perimeter. Also Hukporti would dominate inside: pick n’ rolls, rebounds, shot blocking, finishing on ally oops, finishing on pick n’ rolls, cutting to the rim for passes on the run, shots close to the rim, putbacks, etc. Cleveland has 2 big guys, so match them with 2 big guys. Make Precious Achiwua back up KAT at the 4, Tyler Kolek back up Brunson, put in Cam Payne & use Deuce McBride. They could also see what Pacome Dadiet can do along with Jacob Toppin & Landry Shamet (who can shoot 3s).

  10. I hope no one get your hopes up! The Knicks are not there yet!… Look, it is what it is!!!!…. F*** that – we should have traded for Luka because they are not gonna make it!

  11. I’m convinced more than ever that Thibs is an overrated coach that rides the title of a defensive minded coach when given that label years ago as an assistant coach. He lacks personnel management, time management, in game adjustments, and instincts. Have you ever seen him whip out a clipboard to draw up a play according to the situation— no. Thibs gets out coached repeatedly and it’s glaring. This is his last season.

  12. Everybody in the NBA rotate 9 to almost 10 players only one is killing their players is Tom thibodeau I’m not knocking him and it’s a way better than a couple years ago but damn man

  13. This is why I was so fervently against getting a defensively liable Center like Jonas. Especially an older guy who would probably only matter this year. As currently constructed I think we can beat everyone in the East except the Celtics and Cavs (the way they’ve been playing). This is year one of a 4 year window. We need more wings and definitely need to see if KAT needs a defensive big man playing next to him for success. It took that in Minnesota for his team to have its highest level of success.

We need the Blockness back and Hart fully healthy at the very least before we can entertain the idea of getting out the East this year.

And pray to the basketball Gods that report/betting line about about Victor Oladipo was BS! We need a defensive minded WING! like Okeke. I know it’s just year 1, but outside of OG and Mikal the only real wing we have is Hart who definitely plays well above his height, But lacks the length we see in most NBA wings today.

  14. Troy, relying on Robinson to be a, kind of savior for defense and rebounds, it’s going to put more pressure on him. It can’t be just one guy and his is going to be on a minute restriction for an awhile, I would think. They need and have (G-League) other centers, that could play. Can’t do any worse than what they have now or don’t have! Towns, as the other dude mentioned, really isn’t a true center, mainly because he doesn’t like playing that position, like A. Davis. To me, he isn’t soft, he seems to feel he is playing out of position and Thibs isn’t using him to his strengths. Mikal, was definitely overpaid for and to know surprise of mine, is playing just like he did for the Nets! OG is STILL injured and to me, wayyy overpaid, for a guy that has an injury history. McBride and of course Towns, to me, still I’ll injured and overplayed. Brunson is trying too hard and is too small to be put up against the bigger guys, he sometimes plays out of position too. Definitely need more wings (G-League) maybe? Free Agency, hopefully! If these young guys have confidence in themselves, their coach needs to honor that and give them a chance, not garbage time chances/minutes! I will wait and see if Dolan will get involved again, to see if rumbling starts about Thibs possible firing. It will have to come from Dolan, because Thibs is too close to Rose for him to make a sudden decision like that, at least to me.

  15. The coach has to move Huk to the starting center spot and move KAT to the 4. He’s waiting too long to make this move.

    5 – Huk (until Mitch)
    4 – KAT
    3 – OG
    2 – Mikal
    1 – Brunson

    Our bench would have
    Hart
    Mcbride
    PA
    Cam
They need to use Dadiets’ height more often. I don’t like PA playing the 5. He’s strictly a 4, but until Mitch comes back…5

  16. Knicks traded defense for offense and this is what they have to work with. Knicks are missing that defense from last season and the offense that would come back from games they were down in. In addition, last season the Knicks would win the games they were supposed to win easily. This season those games that they are supposed to win are not that easy anymore. Knicks will need to get the bench situated, meaning coach needs to expand that bench and give them meaningful minutes to get into the flow of the game. What can happen will happen with this team and let’s hope that they can right this ship before it gets out of hand! Let’s go Knicks………….

  17. Troy, a fully health squad, and Tib’s played the bench like he did most def we would have taken it 2 the cavs. But we can’t seem to get a break. We have 25 games left if Mitch is going to make an impact, he is going to have to at least play half the games in order to build chemistry. Bridges and OG have to show up EVERY NIGHT and Kat like I have said since midseason he is a juggernaut, but his interior rim protection is he needs the blockness monster ASAP…

  18. Major update on the Knicks and sooooooo much more today after the Cleveland Cavaliers stomped the heck out of the Knicks. The Knicks will get the heck stomped out of them again Sunday against the Celtics. Now let’s get started.😂😁

  19. Knicks will don’t have any chances, in the second round they will play with Boston, and will loose. Bridges is not worth all these money and first round 5 picks.

  20. There is no other way…Fire Thibs and then Rose…Josh or Mitch does not matter…this team is not able to get past the first round with this pathetic bench

  21. Ian is just is not a Dr if Thibs and the staff is not concerned then I’m not he’s missing games it’s called player management

  22. its tendonitis. I had it in my early 20’s from basketball. I never had surgery for it. you treat it with PT and rest. It’s not the end of the world. He plays a lot of minutes, they’re probably resting him for the playoff stretch

  23. He gets this every year. Said it himself before. Dealt with it earlier in the season last year because of his team USA stuff but about halfway through he always has this.

  24. Think about what is being said and we are resting the season on the shoulders or ankles of an injury prone, immature and lack of work ethic in MR to win or be competitive. Smh

  25. Mikal Bridges has not been living up to the hype that surrounded him coming in! He is not impactful. Right now he is the weak link. When Brunson or Towns are not on their game he needs to step up. Every game I have seen him play this year, he has been a no show. Knicks should never get blown out, but we don’t have a bonified third option. Mikal needs to be called out!

  26. Can tibs please open the playbook. I want xa and os, we can’t rely on heart to pg the ball to inside cutters…I rarely see!!?

  27. The Knicks should fire Thibs. As I’ve said before, these injuries are on him. Why? He’s overplaying the starters. Notice that Precious Achiwua was injured in preseason, KAT was injured, Brunson was injured and now Josh Hart was injured. Doesn’t that happen every year?

We can’t tell how good the bench players are because he rarely uses them and plays a shorter playoff type rotation in the regular season. Look at Orlando who had a lot of injuries but were staying up for awhile due to giving their bench players a lot of minutes. Look at Dallas who was doing that as well. How are the bench players going to improve if they don’t get major minutes. I’m not talking about garbage time or a 5 minutes here or there.

Put them in and see what they will or can do. Notice that Cleveland fired their coach and got better with Atkinson. Dallas got better after hiring Jason Kidd. Not only do the Knicks not have a defensive identity but they can’t stand up to the top teams in the league when they don’t have injuries or they have taller players (ex: Dallas, Cleveland, Boston, the Lakers, etc.). There are plenty of coaches out there. I would look into Mark Jackson and Mike Woodson who somehow are great coaches but aren’t being considered by any teams.

  28. Bridges sucks. He is totally overrated on defense and OG isn’t playing like he did last year. Neither can hit a 3 consistently. So you don’t have any wing that defends or hits 3’s?

  29. Im tired of our players precious got to go sham as well as mikal for Giannis they can’t play in the big court against top tier teams. Mikal needs to go to the gym because he’s weak in boxing out and I’m tired of hearing that it takes time bs some of these players don’t show up when we need them to.

  30. It doesn’t matter if when Mitch comes back cause he can’t defend to 7 footers , Kat is a defense liability he gets beat off the ball constantly and if anyone switches to pick up Kats man especially a great passing team like Cleveland showed us last night we will lose by double digits, are defense looks terrible last night the way we’re playing we will lose in the second round ! Huk has got to improve and all I’ve spoke about Bridges being inconsistent showed up last two games ! Against taller teams we need to start Huk and Kat and put Bridges on the bench until Mitch comes back as far as Josh goes he plays with so much hart and is an overachiever for sure and impresses me every game I see but he needs to play the 2 spot , OG looked way off last night , guess rusty from the lay off , just hope he’s not slacking cause worried about getting hurt

  31. The ball needs to run through Kat.. he causes double teams which will free up the offense for better shots.. if the offense is going to run through Brunson he needs to get his teammates involved
he plays iso ball way too much.. I get he has this mamba mentality but he needs to trust his team more… as far as defense goes Thibs has them playing drop coverage which is leaving shooters wide open causing players to run out to the three to contest shots.. they need to stay at home on the three point switch when needed and fight under screens. It seems as tho the team giving up on Thibs..

  32. Even though we lost yesterday sadly,I was actually happy to see our bench play you know.We should play Pacome Dadiet. He looked good out there and looks like he knows what’s he’s doing.Ariel is amazing,he just needs time to develop. Also we need to give Tyler Kolek minutes. Also to add,Bridges is an amazing player. We should put him more in the offensive side more a lil bit.But I still have faith in the Knicks to go far.We are going to learn.

  33. You’re right to be concerned. Knicks have been known to downplay injuries and the Knicks have a coach who grings his starter into the ground

  34. True Knicks fans will want to read this post in its entirety as it is a dose of reality. I’m not a Knicks fan but I’ve been following them closely this year because the Knicks roster situation and the moves they have made recently make them such an interesting study with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement and all. The Knicks have made 11 total trades in the last year and a half or so (six of them during the last NBA draft). As an outsider, I’m curious if Leon Rose can make this Knicks experiment ultimately work out. From the moment the Towns trade went down, I have been of the opinion that it is not going to work for the Knicks (at least not for the 2024-25 season). Going forward into next season, things could loosen up once the new league year starts in July and the Knicks are no longer hard capped at the second apron. However, the Knicks will (repeat will) be above the second apron next season. At least that is where they will be if they actually want to try to win and maximize the Brunson-Towns window. If the Knicks get cheap this coming offseason, they could still duck the second apron, but I don’t see it.

It is going to be nearly impossible to make any more splash type moves to further improve this Knicks core because of the second apron restrictions that are about to be the Knicks new reality. For those novice fans out there, that don’t like to nerd out in the financial side of NBA team building I will spell out the restrictions for you plainly:
    1) Second apron teams can’t receive a player in a sign and trade.
    2) Second apron teams can’t use a Mid-level exception or Bi-Annual exception to sign any free agent.
    3) Second apron teams can’t sign a buyout player making more than the Non-Taxpayer Midlevel exception (~14million next year) prior to being bought out.
    4) Second apron teams can’t make any trade where they take back more salary than they are sending out (like the Knicks did during the Towns trade).
    5) Second apron teams can’t send out any cash in a trade (like the Knicks did during the Towns trade sending millions to the Hornets to cover the 2024-25 salaries of the 3 players the Knicks were dumping on them).
    6) Second apron teams can’t combine multiple smaller player salaries together to bring back a player in a trade that has a larger salary (like the Knicks did during the Bridges and Towns trades).

The only paths to improving the roster for second apron teams like the Knicks are the following:
    1) Second apron teams can sign their own draft picks (unfortunately for the Knicks, Leon Rose traded away 4 of the next 7 New York Knicks own unprotected first round draft picks in 2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031 while also agreeing to an unprotected first round pick swap in 2028 to the Nets for Mikal Bridges). Of note the Knicks also gave Brooklyn another number one pick from the Bucks and two additional future second round picks in that trade as well. Yikes, that is a lot of draft capital for what amounts to just Mikal Bridges in return.
    2) Second apron teams can resign their own free agents (this offseason you can bring back Landry Shamet, Cam Payne and Precious Achiuwa until your heart is content).
    3) Second apron teams can sign veteran minimum free agents for a cap it of $2,270,735 apiece in 2025-26.

That’s it. That is all a second apron team can do to improve the team.

According to Spotrac.com, the Second Apron for the 2025-26 NBA season projects to be $207,825,000. Also, according to Spotrac the Knicks current 2025-26 payroll projects to be $196,310,224 (for only 10 signed players). Those players are Brunson, Towns, Anunoby, Bridges, Hart, Robinson, McBride, Hukporti, Kolek and Dadiet. That puts the Knicks at total of $11,514,776 below the second apron at the start of free agency with 5 additional players needing to eventually be signed and 4 have to be signed by the first game of the season. The fifth guy can wait all the way to the last game of the season if the Knicks desire. The Knicks are a tax paying team this year and if they use the Taxpayers Mid-Level Exception (~5.6 million projected) that would hard cap them at the second apron again. Undesirable so no Mid-Level exception to sign a free agent this summer for the Knicks. Hypothetically, let’s say the Knicks want to bring back Precious Achiuwa next season and they get him at a deal of only having to pay him the same 6 million that he’s making this season. That brings the Knicks payroll to $202,310,224 with now 11 players signed. The Knicks have to sign at least 3 more players prior to the start of the season and if they want to stay under the second apron, they have $5,514, 776 left to spend and don’t forget about the 15th guy that must be signed by at least the last game of the regular season. According to Hoopsrumors.com, the salary cap hit for a veteran minimum free agent for 2025-26 with 2 or more years of NBA service will be $2,270,735. These vet min free agents will actually get paid more than this amount based on years of service but for salary cap purposes every vet min free agent with 2 or more years of service costs the same against the cap. This prevents teams from discriminating against older players to stay below cap thresholds. Three vet min contracts at $2,270,735 and the Knicks are over the projected second apron by $1,297,429 with only 14 players signed.

Conclusion: The Knicks will be in the second apron starting next season and definitely after they extend Mikal Bridges for future seasons. The above salary numbers for the team don’t include the eventual Bridges extension that will kick in for the 2026-27 season. Look and see whatever OG Anunoby is being paid and prepare to pay Mikal Bridges at least the same amount. This puts the Knicks in the second apron for as long as they keep this core together. Leon Rose, God bless him, he really tried. I still don’t think it’s going to work.

  35. TIBBS IS AN EVIL MAN HE DONT CARE ABOUT THE PLAYERS , IS ANSWERS ARE SO NOT CARING WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYERS INJURIES !!

  36. Am i tripping or did i mention a couple of weeks ago when everyone was talking about bringing these G league players on and i said Thibs isnt extending the rotation when Mitch comes back and i got killed for saying it but now its said that shamet isnt going to make the rotation when Mitch comes back and only sticking to a 9 man rotation?

  37. At least the news on Robinson are positive even though it was frustrating, praying Hart returns tomorrow, if Hart doesn’t return I don’t think the Knicks win tomorrow against the Celtics, but I’m excited for March. Most likely the roster will be fully healthy at long last, hopefully in the first full week as reports say, and along with either Okeke or Warren from the g league. Let’s go Knicks.

  38. I’m not concerned I am happy that they’re addressing the knee issues now so they can monitor it and come up with a game plan on how to treat and rest his knee. Going into the playoffs.
