  1. Yeah well if i dont stop pressing/running for 5 seconds i get yelled at. i cant wait for these triggers when my coach is shouting at me to press, such jokes icl no freedom

  2. Mane press is ridiculous it’s an amazing attribute to have as an attacker. Messi also goated.

  3. Heres a tip that works wonders for me: you and your teammates have to "press" slowly, what i mean is that you have to move as a block while getting closer to the ball and blocking possible passes, when the player that has the ball in possession doubts for a second the nearest pressing player has to sprint full speed towards him (and still trying to block the pass) but when you are about to get to his position you slow down, again you make him doubt and this can lead to a weak pass (loses tempo and has to hurry up so you dont snitch the ball) or imprecise or a risky one with the goalkeeper or cdm, or excessive power on the passing leading to a harder control on the receiver.
The best way to counter this is by luring the pressing player after he slowed down and dribble past him but that is super risky and the majority of defenders lack the technique or skill to be able to do this (compared to attackers) or even dare to do it (specially when they are the last man)

  4. Mane was brilliant at pressing team’s defences so was our whole attack and midfield but it felt like Mane got the most goals out of it the FA Cup semi final against City for example

  5. Missed the most important part: you don’t generally press to instantly recover the ball. You press to lock the opponent into a position with no outlet and force a mistake. As a striker you press the ball out wide to the fullback while covering the passing lane back towards the centreback. If your teammates on the wing, midfield and fullback help the fullback has nowhere to go. That is the whole idea of pressing.

The Liverpool example was actually a poor one. If the opponents’ midfield was more proactive they would have easily circumvented the press by dropping deeper in the hole behind the pressingstrikers to give the goalie an outlet since Liverpools midfield did not press up behind them and there was a massive gap between attack and midfield and massive passinglanes between the front 3 when the GK was on the ball. Liverpool is great at pressing but the example used was bad and it went Liverpools way not because of their pressing but the opponents complacency.

I’d think twice about signing up with someone who can not make the distinction between lucky successful pressing and actual good pressing.

  6. when you start planning a strategy, but your teammates don’t give you support, your team will be destroyed.

  7. That top three was of course very good offensively, but they are also a huge reason why Liverpool were defensive monsters at their peak.

  8. Very instructive. Great advice. I will try it out in my next training with the u15 barca team.

  9. Pressing is so easy and so is cutting passing lines but it’s lost on alot of people and really ineffective if only one person is doing it right.

  10. It’s not just the front men, midfield need to be man marking to prevent options, it’s a team effort you can’t just have a few guys pressing.

  11. I’ve evod Linda caiceido to a 88 but if she gets a cracked out future stars I’ll be there 🫑

  12. still wrong pressing: if you wait for the pass is still too late, A team should press as a whole with the player closest to the ball starting the press, while the remaining players try to read what the possible alternatives the defender would have to pass and anticipate the run to it ,even if the pass has not been performed.
it requires a lot of intuition practice and team effor that is why is so hard to achieve

  13. It depends on your teammates as well… If you press like Mane does, but your teammates don’t block other passing options, then it’s useless… Eventually you’ll stop doing it as well… This requires proper coaching and instructions, and everyone sharing the same vision

  14. I mean yeah I do this but it looks goofy to other people’s eyes and it wastes your energy so no.

I’ll do it when I have enough stamina tho.
