Ilia Topuria has evolved into one of the best pure boxers in mixed martial arts.

The sweet science isn’t just about throwing and landing punches. It requires skill, strategy, and technique. It’s about outsmarting and out maneuvering your opponent as much as it is about physical prowess.

Ilia Topuria learned how to box. He learned the intricacies of the sport, the art of positioning and defense.

  1. He leaves alot of openings though, you have to be aggressive to take advantage of it

  2. Boxing works better if you are shorter. Kickboxing better if you are tall cause of leg kicks. If you box and are long you are much simpler to take down. But if you short and stacked an Box ist harder to shoot for takedown

  3. Ilia has the best defensive boxing in the UFC. Whether that’s enough to make him the best boxer will be a subject of debate, of course. People sleep on Della Maddalena and Tom Aspinall’s boxing. Sleep heavy on Tom’s specifically.

Then there’s Dustin who beat the brakes off Max, Strickland (whether you like it or not), Magomed, Alexa, Weili. All of them are really, really good boxers in mma. It’s hard to pick just 1 overall.

  4. I don’t view him as the best boxer. He’s the best grappler and wrestler in his division so the striking was able to develop well. As well as having a chin of steel and a brain of something harder and hitting like a truck he’s really not that good of a boxer. He’s very good at crowding people and knocking them out no doubt but distance striking slip for slip block counter for block counter he’s hardly the best boxer we’ve seen in mma. If you want a good puncher he’s definitely that but his toughness and world class wrestling base is how he knocks everyone out. You can’t ko ilia but when he lands his you aren’t surviving. Definitely a bit of a mike Tyson aura forming around his power.

  5. He actually started to learn boxing by watching YouTube videos, and taught his ju-jitsu coach to hold pads for practice..

  6. His brothers boxing is so much better. He just has less power but he’s more technical.

  7. First video I’ve seen from this channel. Great analysis, production value and the music adds so much class to watching 2 men try to kill eachother

  8. If Volk threw leg kicks at the end of his exchange when illia back peddled, it would’ve been a different fight. Oh well.

  9. To anybody who says a boxer would get folded by mma, obv has never fought a day in their life. This video proves it

  10. this is the most ordinary boxer, and far from the best. in the UFC there are a lot of good boxers even in the non-ranking. the guy is famous and therefore his hype about the best boxing is promoted.

  11. Massive MMA Fan but was brought up with boxing and competed most my young life, so watching Illia is just unreal he is without doubt the best boxer I have seen in MMA and the fact he didn’t come from a boxing background is even more incredible. He should be a fighter everyone looks to for how to develop your game and become a multi dimensional fighter 👍🫡

  12. I love this guys fighting style! The head movement is so clean! Very good and fun fighter to watch!

  13. Every time I see him I think to myself he’s so prone to knee stomps, I wonder why he doesn’t have an artificial joint or ligaments yet. Did he just have very moral opponents or does he have some answer to that that I don’t see?

  14. Should be said at 11.58 that he never brought back his right hand to defend his face and that’s why he got kicked
He swung his right had back to take his head off with a left hook
But he could of still done this if he brought his right hand back

  15. idk why, but after watch this break down. i feel like illia have alot of hole in his gameplan, which is opportunity for his next opponent. i think that he just wait a right moment to land his knock-out power punch and thats it🤔

  16. Thumbs down. Guy never fought the top of his generation in the featherweight division. He only targeted the older guys. P move. He ducked Evloev and Lopes. No business being foty over Pererria. Best boxer my ass. Until he fights someone at the top in his generation and wins, hes a fraud. Like McGregor before him and everyone else who schemed their way to the top. He knows both those guys would embarrass him.

  17. Dude out struck the 2 best fighters in his weight class and he did it in 1 year, yeah hes a menace and should not be played with.

  18. Finally another star is upon us. Greatest fighter to come along since McGregor imo. I can’t wait to watch more of his fights as he reaches the pinnacle of his ability.

  19. Illia’s mind is strong too. He could easily get tempted to go back to grappling style, but he stays focussed and comes forward as if he’s always been a boxer.

  20. Whoever made mma dorks believe that Boxing isn’t the superior skillset to everything is a f4g. Boxing is the first layer of fighting. Illia would lose to a amateur boxer btw.

  21. The way he picks his shots as far as boxing in mma goes might very well be some of if not the best we’ve ever seen. Had he chosen to just stick with boxing he could have very well eventually built a name for himself there as well.
